Core Drilling
Core drilling is another expertise of ours.
From holes as small as 1/2 inch to diameters of 36 inches, perfectly cylindrical holes are drilled in a thick material to make openings through concrete, asphalt, masonry, and stone.
Numerous trades might need a path through these tough materials which includes plumbing systems, electrical systems, structural anchors, utility penetrations, HVAC, and fire sprinkler systems.
Samples are also a common use for core drilling as exact cylindrical samples from existing structures can be used to test the concrete density strength and structural integrity.
Unlike conventional hammer drilling which breaks apart the entire hole and increases the risk of cracking nearby concrete, a core drill uses a hollow steel barrel fitted with industrial grade diamond segments to cut a perfect circle while removing a cylindrical core from the material.
This process produces smooth accurate openings with significantly less noise and vibration, while reducing damage to surrounding concrete or other structures.
Wet core drilling also helps cool the diamond bit and reduces airborne dust making it ideal for indoor and outdoor work.
Core drilling is the preffered method over hammer drilling. It has become the most widely used techniques in commercial construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and retrofits.
